During normal opening hours

If you have an emergency during our normal working hours please phone the practice on 01629 55666 to let us know what has happened. We can give advice and arrange to get emergency treatment started as soon as possible if we know to expect you and what has happed to your pet.

If the telephone is engaged but you feel your pet needs to be seen as soon as possible start heading to the practice but get a companion or someone at home to keep trying our number to let us know you are on your way down to us.

Out of hours

If you have an emergency outside of our normal opening hours, telephone the surgery on our normal number, 01629 55666, where you will receive instructions on how to contact one of our vets. They will be able to check your pets medical records from home and will be able to give you any necessary advice.

If your animal requires urgent veterinary treatment, a dedicated emergency provider, Vets Now Chesterfield, based at Clay Cross, will provide this. The veterinary teams at Vets Now are on site at Clay Cross throughout the night to provide continual care for your sick pet. If you pet needs to be admitted to Vets Now, a staff member from Derwent Valley Vets will transport your pet back to our veterinary surgery when we reopen.
