Alison joined Derwent Valley Vets in 2025 having seen an advert on our social media which persuaded her our reception team was the team for her. She had previously worked in a variety of sales and hospitality roles which had allowed her to use her many skills as a ‘people person’. She loves connecting with people and this has led to her making lasting friendships with people all over the UK. One of those pals was our receptionist Jane, who just knew Alison would be the right fit for DVV.
Alison settled into the team in no time. Her experience with her own dogs Belle, a Lhasa Apso, and Minnie a spaniel cross meant that as well as being a hit with the team and the clients, she is also loved by our patients who know just who to ask for a treat when at the front desk.
Alison is never happier that when spending time with her family. She lives on the outskirts of Chesterfield with her husband and loves spending time with her two adult children and her four grandchildren, who are the ‘lights of her life’.
When not at work or doing Grandparent duty, Alison likes to pack a rucksack and get out in the countryside with the dogs. If the weather is less inviting she can be found scanning through junk shops looking for something to up-cycle. She has a very good eye for decorating and loves a project where she can reclaim something and give it a new lease of life.
